The Occupation Profiles product provides wage data for US occupations across geographic hierarchies. Each profile delivers consistent insights into wage levels by occupation, supporting compensation benchmarking, labor market analysis, and workforce planning decisions.Typical Workflow#
1.
Identify occupation using the SOC (Standard Occupational Classification) code.
3.
Compare geographies to identify wage differentials for hiring, relocation, or market analysis.
Design Guidance & Best Practices#
Geographic hierarchy: Data is organized into three levels β National (US averages), States (50 states + DC), and Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs).
Wage metrics: Four wage types are provided for each geography β Average, Entry Level (10th percentile), Median (50th percentile), and Experienced (90th percentile).
Cache smartly: Occupation wage data is updated annually; cache responses and refresh when PublicationDate changes.
Notes#
US only: Occupation profiles are currently available only for the United States.
Results are not paginated β the full list is returned in a single response.
Occupation data is sourced from the BLS Occupational Employment and Wage Statistics (OEWS) survey and is updated annually.
