Configuration guide for Microsoft Copilot Studio. Follow these steps to connect and test the IBISWorld MCP Server within a Copilot Studio agent.To successfully set up the IBISWorld MCP in Copilot Studio, you will need:An active IBISWorld login – specifically, the username and password
An active IBISWorld subscription with MCP access enabled – if you are unsure if you meet this requirement, reach out to your relationship manager to confirm
The appropriate Copilot license and permissions to set up MCP within Copilot Studio
Step 1 — Create an Agent in Copilot Studio#
Open Copilot Studio and create a new agent, or open an existing one you would like to connect to the IBISWorld MCP Server.Navigate to the Tools section and click Add Tool.
Select Add New MCP from the options presented.
Step 3 — Enter the MCP Server Details#
In the MCP configuration dialog, enter the following server URL:The Authentication is OAuth 2.0 and the Type is dynamic discovery. Once these details are entered, click Create to add the MCP server to your agent.
Step 4 — Connect and Authenticate#
After you add the MCP as a tool, you'll need to create a new connection
Select "Create new connection"
A login window for your IBISWorld account will display.
Sign in with your IBISWorld credentials.
Once authenticated, click Add and then Configure to complete the connection.
Part 2: Publish the Agent to Microsoft Teams#
Step 5 — Open the Channels Tab#
In the agent editor, navigate to the Channels tab from the top navigation.Step 6 — Add the Microsoft 365 and Teams Channel#
Select Microsoft 365 + Teams from the available channel options.
Click Add Channel to proceed.
Step 7 — Publish the Agent#
A publish window will appear:Click Publish to begin the deployment process.
Once publishing is complete, select See Agent in Microsoft 365 to open the agent in Teams.
Part 3: Test the Connection in Teams#
Step 8 — Open the Agent in Teams#
You will be directed to a Microsoft Teams window. Click Add to install the agent in your Teams environment.Step 9 — Run a Test Prompt#
In the Teams chat window, enter a test prompt to verify the MCP Server connection is working. Ensure the country of the prompt aligns with the content included in your membership.Example test prompt:

Step 10 — Authorize the Connection#
When prompted to authorize data access:Click Open Connections Manager when the authorization prompt appears.
Click Connect, then Submit to grant the agent access to IBISWorld data.
Return to the Teams chat window and click Retry to re-run your prompt.
